Things to do in Pigeon Forge with Kids!

March 5, 2021 By Nathaniel William Leave a Comment

Pigeon Forge is a resort city. You can find it resting snugly in the foothills of Tennessee’s Smokey Mountains. The locale makes it a great getaway and a haven for travelers in an of itself, because the air is bracing and smog-free. Moreover, the area is an out-of-current-time escape from the usual urban strife and woes. If all of this isn’t enough, the area is a special beacon for families with children, earning special marks for kid-friendly options. As just one example, Pigeon Forge is home to the world-renowned Dollywood. The theme park maxes out at over 100 acres. Besides a host of water rides and roller coasters, the park serves as a sort of homage to the old south, with faithfully rendered old buildings and family food options. The famous and well-loved country singer is also behind Dollywood’s sister site, Splash Country, and the area’s famous dining attraction Dolly Parton’s Stampede Dinner Attraction, which includes a live show. Amusement park thrills continue at Pigeon Forge with the also renowned and of historical import, Smoky Alpine Mountain Coaster, know for being the longest alpine coaster in the U.S. There’s also “The Strip.” located in Pigeon Forge Parkway, and the site of more theme park favorites, like bumper boats, go-karts and laser tag. Besides the screaming and jostling fun of the area’s themed parks, there are quieter and yet still interesting and entertaining options for both adults and younger family members. The Titanic Museum, dedicated to the famous ship, is a must-see. The Old Mill Square has quaint old-time stores and a restaurant. So, whether you go for clean and invigorating walks in the mountain air, taking time to shop and visit the area’s sites, or whether you go for the more raucous fun of the area’s theme parks, Pigeon Forge is a great option for families.

Key Takeaways:

  • The mountain resort city of Pigeon Forge rests at the feet of the Smoky Mountains.
  • The city is old-fashioned, far from the usual urban strife and cares and full of fresh and reviving mountain air.
  • There is much more to do than breathe and relax, however. The city has renowned amusement parks and unusual museums filled with the strange and fantastical.

“And who can go to Pigeon Forge without visiting the famous Stampede, the live indoor show and dining event?”
